What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

The scheme provides financial support towards the purchase and installation of renewable heating systems, helping make energy-efficient upgrades more affordable.
Current grant values include:
- Air Source Heat Pumps – £7,500 contribution towards supply and installation
- Ground Source Heat Pumps – £7,500 contribution towards supply and installation
- Biomass Boilers – £5,000 contribution towards supply and installation
The grant is applied directly to the cost of installation, meaning the funding is deducted from the price quoted by your installer.
Who Can Apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
- Own the property where the system will be installed
- Currently heat your home with a fossil fuel system or electric heating without a heat pump
- Have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
- Have a property with a heating system capacity of 45kWth or less (this includes most residential homes)
- Use an MCS-certified installer who is a member of an approved consumer protection scheme
